In 2013, Casey Eltringham’s well opened in Jay Town, Liberia, as the result of a fundraiser in Florida. Casey explained “I have always been aware of helping others…[but it] was not until World Water Day 2012 that I decided that I can really make a difference in the lives of hundreds…”
In Las Vegas, Katie Karp says “There are so many wonderful charities and fundraisers to help diseases, provide food, clothes, shoes, shelter, and so on, that I support – but before we tackle those issues, we must make sure people have access to clean water.”

The Namsos, Norway-based Lene Maria for Rent Vann campaign is a wonderfully inspirational and moving story. An entirely grassroots effort, that emerged out of a family’s desire to honor the memory of their daughter, it has met with unprecedented success – a heartwarming testament to the true power of humanity. The whole community has united in an overwhelming outpouring of support, and together they have raised more than 1 million NOK to fund clean water projects in Kenya and Liberia! Four hundred people in James Town Annex, Liberia have clean water thanks to Christina Rydland’s Signe’s Well In memory of her mother: “I am positive that she would be honored to know that there is a well in her name…. By giving up one or two Starbucks coffees a week for a month, each and every person I know could give $32 to Voss Foundation and Signe’s well. That is a very small sacrifice…”
In 2014, Ida and Bjorn asked for donations to Voss Foundation in lieu of gifts for their California wedding. Ida said, “When Bjorn and I got engaged I knew right away that I wanted to register with [Voss Foundation]… Having met some of the Voss Foundation staff I know that a donation to this organization will be put to good use and make a real difference.”
Kim and Tenny also asked for donations to Voss Foundation instead of gifts and made a donation to Voss Foundation in honor of their guests, rather than handing out a gift to take home, at their East Hampton nuptials in 2013.
Host an Event
In conjunction with World Water Day, the students of The Lab School in Washington, DC, organized a fundraising concert at their school to help provide access to clean water for people in Sub-Saharan Africa, proving that supporters of all ages can make a difference and create a ripple effect of positive change!
In 2012, Margaux Rathbun, an international media nutritionist and creator of the website Authentic Self Wellness, told her followers, “Water is one of the most important things we can do for our bodies and our health. Water is vital for life.” Voss Foundation worked with Margaux to create a personal giving page, a video series, and a fundraising event in her hometown of Portland, Oregon. You can follow Margaux’s progress on our website here and on her blog as well.
Kirsten Hanson made her New York birthday brunch into a successful fundraiser for Voss Foundation, collecting a donation with the cost of each meal, saying, “I felt that it was a good platform to reach friends and share a cause that I care about.”
New York-based supporters can also work with the exclusive event-planning platform Host Committee to created a custom party at the city’s hottest spots, to benefit Voss Foundation. Click here to get planning.
