Voss Foundation implementing partner FACE Africa is on the ground in Liberia collaborating with Voss Foundation and VOSS Water on not one but two initiatives – a new project and VOSS Water’s 31 Days To Make A Difference: Living Well campaign.
Saran Kaba Jones, Founder and CEO, of FACE Africa, and photographer Keiko Hiromi left for a two-and-a-half week trip to Liberia this past Wednesday. They will spend the better part of their time in country in Rivercess County with FACE Africa Program Coordinator Emmett Wilson and the Gunii Creek United Development Association, GCUDA, their local implementing partners, to oversee and document the implementation Voss Foundation’s 14th water access point with FACE Africa in Little Liberia, which is also this year’s featured project for VOSS Water’s 31 Days To Make A Difference – Living Well campaign.
The Little Liberia project is funded by the First Annual Voss Foundation Benefit for Clean Water held in East Hampton on July 3rd, 2013 at Georgica. Organized by VOSS Water’s New York Brand Manager, Kirsten Hansen, and Georgica’s Antonio Fuccio, the inagural event raised $5,975.00, which Georgica contributed to Voss Foundation. The “Georgica Well” project will include the construction of a hand-dug well fitted with a manual hand pump, training of a water management committee, and community-wide hygiene sensitization.
The Little Liberia project will also be featured in VOSS Water’s 2014 31 Days To Make A Difference Campaign – Living Well. 31 Days is VOSS Water’s international campaign designed to raise awareness about Voss Foundation’s work and the global need for clean drinking water across their social media platforms. In addition to the social media that extends for the full 31 day period, retail outlets that sell VOSS Water around the world will display signage and other collateral materials educating global consumers about Voss Foundation’s clean water efforts. This year the campaign, which runs from World Water Day (March 22, 2014) through Earth Day (April 22, 2014), is called “Living Well,” and will document all the steps that go into completing one of Voss Foundation and FACE Africa’s clean water projects from start to finish. Keiko will document this process on behalf of VOSS Water, Voss Foundation, and FACE Africa!
The Georgica Well is one of the twelve Voss Foundation has funded in Libera with implementing partner FACE Africa this year. It is also one of nine Voss Foundation has sponsored as part of FACE Africa’s “County by County” initiative to provide complete water coverage to every county in Liberia, starting in Rivercess. Check Voss Foundation’s website in the coming weeks for a complete description of the Little Liberia Project and the budget.
