Voss Foundation seeks interns at our New York headquarters. Responsibilities include program management, fund-raising, event coordination, social media, web outreach, public relations, marketing, donor management, bookkeeping, and general office duties.

Voss Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene as a means to enable community-driven development in Sub-Saharan Africa and raising awareness of the ongoing need in the region. Voss Foundation aims to help communities’ meet their basic water needs and then focus on the self-improvement of lives and communities. We have a particular interest in assisting women and girls who, relieved of the burden of collecting water, have time to devote to education and enterprise.
We employ a unique approach that ensures local ownership and long-term sustainability through partnerships with trusted local organizations, use of appropriate technology, and through systems that align environmental consideration with the diverse water needs of a community.
Voss Foundation has helped build 85 water access points and 299 sanitation facilities in 7 countries, impacting over 100,000 people is in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Swaziland, and Uganda. Founded by VOSS of Norway ASA in 2008 as an independent 501(c)(3) public charity, Voss Foundation has offices in New York and Oslo.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of WordPress or similar web publishing programs, and an intimate understanding of social media platforms (including Facebook and Twitter)
- English fluency is a prerequisite; familiarity with Norwegian, French, Swahili and/or other languages spoken in Africa is considered helpful.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, but exceptionally qualified students will also be considered.
- Legal ability to work in the USA
You must be a self-starter possessing exceptional organizational ability, excellent writing and language skills, great attention to detail, a love of learning, a philanthropic spirit, an expansive worldview and open mind, and a can-do entrepreneurial and creative attitude.
This position reports to the Executive Director and Program Director of a lean organization, providing him/her the chance to gain hands-on experience and enjoy enormous responsibility in varied functions of non-profit management and development. The role offers huge growth potential commensurate with effort input, along with the opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of a vibrant and growing organization of distinction. The internship may include domestic travel, heavy lifting, and/or assistance with events. Internship start date and hours flexible, but the intern should be able to contribute a minimum of sixteen hours per week; part- or full-time.
