Voss Foundation’s 2013 Women Helping Women honoree, Gate “Maya” Haile Samuelsson, is an international fashion model and philanthropist. In 2012, Maya and her husband, James Beard-award-winning chef Marcus Samuelsson, co-founded Three Goats, a non-profit organization committed to improving health and well-being in Ethiopia by providing sustainable access to vital and renewable resources.

Braden Summers is a New York-based photographer who documented Voss Foundation’s work in Liberia in 2012. Whether shooting celebrities for The Tony Awards, a pharma campaign for Pfizer or a lifestyle series of modern couples for MoMA, his work remains instantly recognizable with his unique, stylized treatments.

The generous support of our San Francisco community at the 2012 Women Helping Women San Francisco Luncheon contributed to the construction of 5 wells and 99 sanitation facilities, benefiting 6,300 people in the Ntontozi Manzini Region of Swaziland. We hope you will join us to make an even greater impact in 2013!

WOMEN HELPING WOMEN
Women Helping Women is an international program of Voss Foundation wherein groups join forces to commit to improving the lives of mothers and children across the globe.  A worldwide network of women’s grassroots action, the campaign raises funds to help Voss Foundation build water projects in Sub-Saharan Africa.  Each supporter has access to a detailed description of the well she funds, in addition to updates on the progress and success of her project.  Furthermore, donors are provided with the opportunity to visit Women Helping Women water projects, where circumstances permit, and meet those they have helped. Women Helping Women exemplifies the strength of women to change the world.  Every single donation is like a drop of water – as each woman contributes her share to form an entire water system for a village, so do individual drops of water come together to quench the thirst of thousands.  Every droplet, every contribution, every woman is necessary for the whole.
