Our implementing partner in Uganda, Good Future & Hope, just posted some photos of progress on the construction of their primary school’s toilets and septic tanks, part of our multi-year project to meet all the water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure needs for their school and orphanage.
The septic tank and piping was funded by our Lene Maria for Rent Vann campaign in memory of Lene Maria Bergum, and the borehole that serves it, as well as the toilets, are being funded by our Give A Drop campaign with Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Unite and Jewel‘s Project Clean Water.
Having toilets onsite at schools, a rarity in many rural communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, will improve attendance and performance, especially among girls. The school is planned to educate members of the community as well as the former street children of the orphanage, and the sanitation and hygiene facilities will attract more students and teachers.
Being able to meet Good Future & Hope School and Orphanage’s diverse needs and impact so many positive development outcomes is an excellent example of Voss Foundation’s Ripple Effect.
