“Clean water means abundant life,” says Latham Thomas; a tremendous endorsement from an expert in the abundancy of life. Latham is a maternity lifestyle maven and women’s wellness and birth coach, on the vanguard of transforming the maternal and women’s wellness movement. A graduate of Columbia University and The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Latham is the founder of Mama Glow, a holistic lifestyle hub for women to explore optimal well-being. In 2013, Latham joined Voss Foundation’s Women Helping Women New York Luncheon committee.
“I learned of the work of Voss Foundation through [Executive Director] Kara Gerson and was touched by VOSS’s commitment to the women in Africa,” she explains. Female and maternal health is Latham’s life mission. She co-founded the Mama Glow Film Festival – a platform for maternal advocacy through film and philanthropy, which launched in 2011 with Christy Turlington Burns and Voss Foundation’s 2012 Women Helping Women Honoree and dedicated supporter, Selita Ebanks. Bridging the gap between optimal wellness, spiritual growth, and radical self-care, Latham is the go-to guru for modern holistic lifestyle for women during pregnancy and beyond.
“There are few organizations that really lend the resources, finances, and ongoing support on the ground level to those who need it most and I believe this is the way Voss Foundation works,” Latham elaborates. “They are invested in bringing awareness to the ongoing issue of clean water access. Not only are they helping improve the clean water supply- but they are also helping to highlight the crafts of local artisans in the regions they serve [through Voss Foundation’s African Bazaar].”
“We are so honored to have Latham’s support,” Kara says. “She has been such an enthusiastic champion, and truly understands our Ripple Effect – how access to clean water generates exponential benefits in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially for female and maternal health. I first met Latham when we co-hosted a Claudia Chan event when I was pregnant, and we had such an invigorating conversation about what it would be like to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood without access to clean water. Now she is an outstanding presence on Voss Foundation’s Women Helping Women New York Luncheon committee. She is such a delightful force of positive energy – ‘women helping women’ incarnate!”
Latham goes on about why Voss Foundation’s Women Helping Women campaign means so much to her: “My work at Mama Glow is about a commitment to helping women. Helping women is all about lifting our world because women are the crux of community. When women are standing tall in their glow power and well-supported they can do anything.”
