On October 21st, a number of the Voss Foundation’s European Women Helping Women supporters gathered at Blomqvist Kunsthandel in Oslo.
Former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik spoke to the women about the political situation in Kenya today, which was very interesting.
Attendees were also very lucky to have Dr. Anders R Seim to talk about guinea worm disease. Seim founded Health & Development International in 1990, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating this water-borne disease. His speech was very engaging and thought-provoking.
The women enjoyed the lectures and beautiful drawings from the children at the Milgis School in Kenya. The women found it very interesting to notice the similarities between drawings of Norwegian and Kenyan children of the same age – except that Nordic moose and bears are replaced by African lions and giraffes!
On November 3rd, the first American cohort of Women Helping Women will gather together for the Women Helping Women luncheon in New York City.
